Dr Shailesh Sable was born in Mumbai. He has completed his education from prestigious institutes in Mumbai and Aurangabad and has more than 12 years of experience in the field of Organ Transplants and Hepato-biliary & Pancreatic surgery.

Shailesh Sable has completed 2 years training in Liver transplantation ( predominantly living donor liver transplant or LDLT) with Dr Vinay Kumaran ( ASTS fellow Liver & MOT surgery, Mch G.I &HPB surgery) and later continued as Consultant with him for another 3 years in Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.

Prior to that he completed his DNB in Surgical Gastroenterology & HPB surgery ( under guidance of Dr. P.J Halder & Prof S.K Mathur) from Jagjivanram Western Railway hospital, Mumbai under Diplomat of National Board, New Delhi, India which is a sub-specialization degree course ( 3 years) after Masters of surgery & DNB Gen. Surgery ( 3 years).

During his tenure with Dr Vinay Kumaran et al ( 5 years), he has been involved in more than 230 liver transplants  either as  primary surgeon or as second surgeon (200 LDLT and 30 deceased donor liver transplants , 20 Pediatric liver transplants( reduced grafts & monosegment grafts), 8 ABO-I LDLT, 1 Dual lobe LDLT, 1 combined LDLT with sleeve gastrectomy , complete porto-caval transposition and 1 Re-do LDLT, 1 Split liver transplant  and 1 SWAP ) at Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital, Mumbai (June 2013 – Aug 2018) under the guidance of Dr Vinay Kumaran.

Since Aug’ 2018 till date he is part of Sahyadri organ transplant team. At Sahyadri he has been part of over 150 liver transplants (70 LDLT’s & 80 DDLT’s, includes 1 Redo- DDLT, 1 combined Liver-kidney & 1 split liver transplant). Dr Sable has also been active part of combined Kidney-Pancreas transplant programme (Under guidance of Dr Anil Vaidya: 8 Kidney-pancreas combined transplants). He has been involved in over 15 paediatric liver transplants including reduced grafts, mono-segments grafts and left lateral lobes.

Dr Sable has keen interest in Hepato-Biliary & Pancreatic malignancies (cancers) and performs complex major liver resections (including Trisegmentectomies, posterior sectorectomies etc), Whipples’s procedure (& distal pancreatic resections) & complex bile duct injury repair surgeries. Dr Sable has been a part of oldest liver transplant program in state at Jaslok hospital & research centre, Mumbai in 2008(26 liver transplants) under guidance of Dr Sanjay Nagral.

Dr Sable has a very keen interest in research. He has published in various International and national journals. Recently he published on Liver regeneration in donors in Indian journal of Gastroenterology, it is also the first paper on liver regeneration from India.
